Claim your service-fee tax credit

We recently learned our 20% service fee was incorrectly taxed at 10% even though Virginia exempts service fees up to 20%. Each month since we opened, we’ve submitted those taxes to Virginia and Falls Church as required by law. The only exception is our final month’s service fee tax balance which we’ve set aside to return directly to our guests before we turn over any unclaimed funds to Virginia.
If you dined at Chasin’ Tails between April 1, 2023 and October 31, 2025, you can claim a a gift card. Verifiable claims receive  the service fee tax back; unverifiable claims will still receive as a courtesy—paid by our company. Please take a minute to fill out the short form below.

What we need:

  • Payment Card type + last 4 digits (e.g., Visa ••••1234)

  • Receipt (uploaded photo or screenshot) OR

  • Reservation confirmation (OpenTable or text) OR

  • Approx. visit date(s), time(s), check total(s), guest counts (e.g. 6/14 dinner, ~$118, 4 people)

  • Your name, email, phone for delivery of an e-gift card

What you’ll get:

  • Verified match: If we can find your exact check, you’ll receive DOUBLE the service fee tax paid as an e-gift card.

  • If we can’t verify the exact check: We’ll issue a 1× estimated service fee tax credit based on your information provided. This credit will be paid by our company.

  • Gift cards never expire and can be used in-store or online.

We know we can’t reach everyone, but we’re committed to giving back as much as possible to those who were affected. We sincerely apologize for the mistake and appreciate your patience while we make this right.

Thank you for being part of the Chasin’ Tails family.
